Rukshian Balasubramaniam | What We Should Expect From The RIGHT Leader?

 Rukshian Balasubramaniam | A reality of leadership is, some individuals, will, merely, hold some position, others will perform some of the duties and responsibilities, and the RIGHT leaders will develop, and utilize, all the essential skills, acquire the knowledge and expertise, and be ready, willing, and able, to perceive and conceive of options and alternatives, have the self - confidence to fully consider, and use these abilities, in order to be the type of leader, organizations need, deserve, and should desire! In my, over four decades, of involvement, in nearly every aspect related to leading, I have come to strongly believe, unless/ until, groups commit to the entire process of leadership training, and proceed accordingly, their ability to prosper, endure, and remain relevant, and sustainable, is signficantly reduced! With, that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, what this means and represents, and why it matters.


 

1. Relevant; reliable; realistic; responses/ responsive/ responsible: Although, we need a leader, with a positive, can - do, attitude, it must be balanced, with reality, and using realistic approaches, to achieve objectives! What good does it do, if an approach, is not relevant? Why would anyone follow, and trust someone, who they did not believe, and perceive, as being, reliable? The right type of individual, consistently, proceed with responses, which are responsive to priorities, needs, concerns, and perceptions, as well as someone, who proceeds, to lead, in a manner, which clearly demonstrates, he is a responsible, true leader!

2. Integrity; ideas; ideology; imagination: Avoid anyone, who does not, clearly, demonstrate, he possesses absolute integrity, and not merely, does something, when it seems convenient, or in his personal/ political agenda, and/ or, self - interest! One's ideas must align with the organization's ideology, but, groups are far - better served and represented by someone, who proceeds, with a well - developed, relevant imagination, instead of only, using the same - old, same - old, ways!

3. Generate goodwill; greater good; growth: Groups will only remain relevant, if they undergo, meaningful, consistent growth, in order to create, a greater chance, of meaningful sustainability! Real leaders focus on the greater good, which is only achieved, when his actions, and words, generate goodwill, and bring forth a meeting - of - the - minds, for the common good!

4. Rukshian Balasubramaniam | Healing; humane; helpful; honest/ honorable: When one is consistently, honest, and people, perceive him, as being, honorable, etc, he enhances the opportunity to be a healing leader! The right one, demonstrates he cares, and is empathetic, by showing, he is helpful, and, truly, humane!

5. Truth/ trust; timely; time - tested: Nothing can substitute for telling the truth, and thus, earning stakeholders trust! To do so, one's focus must be, both, well - considered and timely, as well as clearly, based on a knowledge and understanding of the time - tested realties!
